Lots of new pics this month. There’s Tony Horton’s photos from the Royal International Air Tattoo, my pictures from the Beltring War & Peace Show, there’s pics of some of the July competition winners and some of the exotic entrants in the “What If?” Members’ Trophy.
In the reference section there’s some shots of Bill Maloney and Otto Ulrich trying out 1:1th scale aviation with Bill’s Piper Cub. While in the member’s galleries there’s pictures of Tony Horton’s Hurricane and my Corsair and Typhoon.
New links have been added to IPMS Early Risers club, to John McIllmurray’s AIMS, and to publishers Dalrymple & Verdun.
Finally, in the diary we have a new theme for the January 2008 Members’ Trophy competition.

This year’s charity donation has been settled at £1,100, with £1,000 going to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and a £100 to the St Francis Hospice in Romford. This money comes from the club’s acivities during the year, with the lion’s share due to our show, Modelfest.

To start the year, there’s a new article on how to improve the Trumpeter 1/35th scale Chinook (US CH47D and RAF HC2 versions) by Rod “Otto” Ulrich in the reference section.

We’ve just about recovered from “The Nationals”, aka Scale ModelWorld. A good time was had by all, and we should have some photos shortly.
The date for the next Modelfest has been pencilled in as Sunday 23rd September 2007.
New model photos by Andy Eaton have been added to the gallery, including his Mustang, Nieuport 11 Bebe, Sabre, and a number of excellent figures.

Another year, another Modelfest! Feedback from the day has been very positive, and first cut of the figures says we’ve raised over £1,000 for charity. Many thanks to everyone who exhibited, attended or helped out. There’s a few general photos here.

Only two months to Modelfest! A list of the clubs and traders who have confirmed so far has been added to the site.
Tony Horton won the July Members’ Trophy competition with his Avenger. There are photos of all the competition entrants, thanks to Stew Hargrave.
It’s airshow season, so further thanks to Tony for providing us with an F4E Phantom walkround, and other photos from the Air Tattoo at Fairford. There’s also photos from the Farnbrough Airshow, and from our trip to Brooklands Museum.
As well as the compeition winners, we also have new photos of Sam Wilson’s Marder and Pete Readman’s Harrier and Fulmar

Congratulations to John McIllmurray for winning the 2005 Model of the Year Competition with his 1/72nd Vickers Wellington. John is moving away, and so we all wish him well, and hope to see him soon.

Change of venue for next year’s Modelfest show. Due to a problem with the 6th Form College, we will be holding Modelfest 2006 at the nearby Kings International College in Camberley.

Well, that’s “The Nationals” over for another year. Our stand had the theme “Nelson’s Navy”, with models that were namesakes of the RN ships of 1805. To tie in with this, eight of us attended the IPMS Dinner on the Saturday appropriately dressed.

New Piper Cub walkround in Reference section. This plane is part-owned by club member Bill Maloney It’s a 61 year old USAAF veteran, and operated in Belgium in early 1945. The paint scheme is an educated guess, but if anyone knows better, or has photos, Bill would love to hear about it.
